When I was 9 years old, I used to do gymnastics, and a day before my 9th birthday I had an awful accident during training and I lost my vision in my right eye. I love doing gymnastics, but it was very hard for me after the accident.

Then, I decided to try swimming, which was fun, but I had too much flexibility and softness for it, so my swimming instructor suggested I try synchronized swimming! At the end of the first lesson, I knew it was the right sport for me, especially because when I was under the water I could see everything just like everybody else. Well, everything was blurry, but yet, I was a “normal” girl doing my best not to drown and trying all kinds of sculling that could help me put my legs up in the air. Plus I was having lots of fun.

Anyways, I started synchro as an athlete in 2009 in Brazil, but I really fell for the sport when I went to America for a student exchange program in 2009-2010. Since then, my love for Synchro has grown and grown and made me move overseas to work with it. I’m currently 26 years old, living in Perth- Western Australia with a sponsorship visa, working as a synchro Head Coach and Regional Coordinator.

I almost forgot something I'm really proud of - I was invited to be the Rio 2016 Olympics Synchronized Swimming Information Coordinator! It was such an honour and an awesome experience.
